A Public Advocate Perhaps?

It seems that through this article CNN is trying to establish there attack on Gov. Palin as something that the "public" wants to see. Thoughts?

This is a really good question -- who is "the public," and how do we (or CNN) determine what they want to see/hear/read? I'll introduce two annoying but useful words tomorrow, and ask whether a voter's opinions about politics are endogenous or exogenous. . . . .
