The Media Will LOVE This Piece of News

This Article is the top news story on CNN right now. If CNN was a "profit-seeking" media group they would want to milk this story for all that it is worth. It will also be quite interesting to see what the Obama campaign does with it.

Obama asked the story to be dropped and said it wasn't the public's business.

That's been my opinion since that Kos diary writer started harping on this yesterday. The rumor - and subsequent truth - is unfortunately apart of a greater political climate where scandals are more important to voter decisions than policy. I have no doubt that this scandal will play out among voters and I find that just as unfortunate as Republican smears of Obama.

I sent an email to Kathryn Jean Lopez saying pretty much the same thing. I guess equating "Muslim rumors" of Obama to Bristol's pregnancy rumors upset her tho. She hasn't responded to me yet.

Let me rephrase:

It's unfortunately apart of a greater political climate where scandals are treated as more important to voter decisions than policy.

Hillary Clinton weighs in and it's a good message for all of us (especially those of us who make broad arguments based on anecdotes):

"But it is not fair game to use her daughter, or any of her kids, as pawns in a political argument. To my mind, this extends to using her daughter as evidence that abstinence-only education doesn't work: presumably, no one thinks that it works 100% of the time, and that's the only claim to which this one counterexample could possibly be relevant. (That's why God created large-scale studies."

I saw that he said that shortly after. I dont think that will stop the media from talking about it.
